Salvador Perez Sets Season Record For Home Runs By Catcher
3 years agoKansas City Royals catcher Salvador Perez achieved a big milestone in Game 1 of the team's doubleheader against the Cleveland Indians on Monday. He went 2-for-4 with a home run and two RBI in the game. The home run was his 46th of the year and he now holds the record for most home runs by a catcher in a single season, breaking Johnny Bench's previous MLB record of 45. Perez has been nothing short of outstanding this year. Over 150 games, he's slashing .276/.317/.548 with an MLB-leading 115 RBI. His 46 home runs are tied for the most in the majors alongside Vladimir Guerrero Jr.
