Jaguars Release Duke Johnson
3 years agoThe Jacksonville Jaguars released running back Duke Johnson from their practice squad on Thursday. That didn't take long. The Jaguars added Johnson to their practice squad just last week. Even if he latches on with another organization relatively soon, he's unlikely to become a fantasy relevant name anytime soon. The Jaguars will move forward with James Robinson, Carlos Hyde and Dare Ogunbowale in their backfield heading into Week 2 against the Denver Broncos. Robinson saw 63.5 percent of the offensive snaps in Week 1, compared to 33.8 percent for Hyde, but Hyde saw a total of 11 touches to Robinson's eight. Head coach Urban Meyer and this coaching staff don't seem all that high on Robinson's talent despite an excellent rookie season from the undrafted running back. With Hyde cutting heavily into Robinson's workload, he has become more of an RB2/3 on a team that will be throwing the football a lot this year.
