Matt Manning Pitches Six Strong Innings On Friday
3 years agoDetroit Tigers starting pitcher Matt Manning had a strong outing against the Toronto Blue Jays on Friday. He pitched six innings and allowed six hits, one walk and one earned run while striking out five. It was just his third quality start of the year. The 23-year-old rookie has shown promising flashes here and there, but he's still clearly got a lot of growth to do. Over 12 starts, he's gone 3-5 with a 5.46 ERA and a 1.52 WHIP. The most concerning metric for Manning may be his lack of strikeouts as he's only managed 34 strikeouts over 59.1 innings. He'll make his next start next Thursday against the Oakland Athletics.
