Casey Mize Surrenders Three Home Runs On Tuesday
3 years agoDetroit Tigers starting pitcher Casey Mize was a victim of the long ball in Tuesday's game against the Baltimore Orioles. Mize pitched 4 1/3 innings and allowed five hits, one walk and four runs (three earned runs) while striking out four. He surrendered three home runs in the game and has now given up exactly three home runs in each of his last two starts. Mize is struggling a bit right now. He has a 6.75 ERA over his last two starts. His season-long numbers remain strong as he has a 3.66 ERA and a 1.14 WHIP. However, some of his underlying stats are a bit concerning, most notably his 5.14 xERA and his .470 xSLG, the latter of which ranks in the bottom 12% of the league. The Tigers are extending him a bit right now and because of that, he's worth a roster spot in deep leagues. His next start will be on Sunday against the Cleveland Indians.
