Casey Mize Allows Four Runs In Loss To Red Sox
3 years agoDetroit Tigers starting pitcher Casey Mize suffered his sixth loss of the year on Wednesday as the team fell 4-1 to the Boston Red Sox. Mize pitched five innings and allowed seven hits, one walk and four earned runs while striking out three. He allowed three home runs in the game. It was the third time this year in which he'd allowed three home runs in a start. The Tigers held Mize to under 60 pitches over his first three starts in July, but they have been extending him more lately. He has thrown over 75 pitches in three straight games now. He should continue to pitch a bit deeper into games for the time being, but expect the Tigers to continue watching his workload closely as the season draws closer to an end. Mize will take a 3.57 ERA and 1.13 WHIP into his next start against the Baltimore Orioles on Tuesday.
