One And Done Staff Picks Overview
Here at RotoBaller, we are always searching for ways to give our readers the best fantasy sports content possible. With that goal in mind, we are very proud to announce the weekly PGA “One and Done” column will be back for a third season.
In this feature, our golf staff of Joe Nicely, Spencer Aguiar, Andrew Putters and Josh Bennett will provide their weekly golf picks every Wednesday. The purpose of this article is to present you with alternative options to consider and hopefully make your selection a much easier process weekly. With that plan in mind, let's get started!
For an in-depth breakdown of the top DraftKings and FanDuel plays, check out Joe Nicely's weekly Horse For The Course that highlights the best fits for the week's course. And you can also find out who the smart money is on by checking out Spencer Aguiar's PGA DFS: Vegas Report every week. One and Done Selections - WGC St. Jude Invitational
Joe Nicely - Louis Oosthuizen
Alternate - Harris English
I feel like I might have broken some sort of record for the number of times I’ve had Louis Oosthuizen as my “alternate” in this contest. If I’d only actually made him my pick all those times! The South African has had a historic year in the major championships, posting runner-up finishes in both the PGA Championship and U.S. Open, while being firmly in control of the Open for 3.5 rounds before ultimately settling for a third-place result. And that’s the problem with Louis...when can he actually win a golf tournament? Perhaps like the similarly-snakebitten Xander Schauffele last week in Tokyo, if Oosthuizen can continue to put himself in position, he’ll eventually get a “W” in one of these things. This week’s WGC-FedEx St. Jude Invitational is as good a spot as any, as he heads to Memphis in white-hot form and has played well in his two previous trips to TPC Southwind.
Barracuda - Bo Hoag
Yearly Earnings - $6,342,711

Spencer Aguiar - Louis Oosthuizen
Alternate - Paul Casey
My decision was made because of the players I had at my disposal. We only have five tournaments left between the two this week, the Wyndham Championship, Northern Trust and BMW Championship, and Louis Oosthuizen is not only someone I need to use over these next five events but is also the player that graded highest for me of available options (seventh overall). I am going to hope the form continues at a venue he has posted two top-20s since this transformed into a WGC, and I will need to get creative down the stretch to hold onto my lead.
Barracuda - Maverick McNealy
Alternate - Mito Pereira
I didn't run a model. This is nothing more than a hunch.
Yearly Earnings - $9,100,026
Yearly Cuts Made - 26/30
Josh Bennett - Daniel Berger
Alternate - Viktor Hovland
Given how well Berger has played this year, I’m surprised I haven’t locked him into a pick yet this year. Luckily I still have him this week. Back to the “don’t overthink it” method, this one is pretty much a no-brainer with the players I have remaining. Berger is still in some great form (as he has been most of the year), especially coming off a top ten at The Open. He took second in this event last year, so his game obviously fits the course. In a field like this on a course that doesn’t have any real weaknesses, you’re just hoping to hit on an overall good golfer. Berger doesn’t have many weaknesses in his game, and obviously that is a good fit for this course. I’m not digging into any other stats or reasoning beyond his form and history, it’s plenty for me to decide that this is the right pick this week.
Barracuda - Taylor Pendrith
Alternate - Mito Pereira
Yearly Earnings - $4,497,058
Yearly Cuts Made - 22/30
Andrew Putters - Xander Schauffele
Alternate - Cam Champ
I know Xander just won Olympic Gold. I know Xander is probably tired from jet lag. But at the end of the day, Xander plays these types of courses very well. Any course that bogey of wardens is important, and courses that force strong approach play for 175-225. Not to mention he seems to have more success with small field tournaments that do not have a cut. I also like Cam Champ this week, because his success usually comes in bunches.
Barracuda - Joel Dahmen
Yearly Earnings - $6,264,215
Yearly Cuts Made - 24/30
