Derek Hill Tallies Three Hits In Wednesday's Win
3 years agoDetroit Tigers outfielder Derek Hill had the best offensive game of his career in Wednesday's 17-14 win over the Minnesota Twins. Hill batted second in the order for the first time this year and went 3-for-6 with three singles, two runs and two RBI. The 25-year-old is now slashing .289/.396/.289 with six stolen bases, seven RBI and 10 runs over 19 games this year. He's had great plate discipline with a 17% strikeout rate and a 13.2% walk rate. He showed a little bit of power in the minors, hitting 14 home runs over 120 games at Double-A in 2019, but he's yet to produce any power in the majors. Over 34 games in the MLB over the past two years, he has yet to hit an extra-base hit. He could certainly offer some stolen base upside if he starts to see more playing time going forward, but for now his playing time isn't consistent enough to warrant rostering him in any formats.
