Rockies Release Matt Adams
3 years agoThe Colorado Rockies released first baseman Matt Adams on Tuesday. Manager Bud Black said releasing Adams gives the team a chance to look at younger players to close out the season. Rio Ruiz was recalled from Triple-A Albuquerque, but Black said that Alan Trejo and Ryan Vilade could see time with Colorado the rest of the way, too. Adams hit just .167/.250/.194 with no home runs in 40 plate appearances for the Rockies, but he could be picked up by a team looking for a left-handed power platoon partner at the cold corner. For now, the 32-year-old can be left to the waiver wire in the vast majority of fantasy leagues.
