3 years agoNew Orleans Saints wide receiver Michael Thomas (ankle) underwent ankle surgery in June and will be sidelined 10-to-12 weeks. According to Nick Underhill of NewOrleansFootball.com, Thomas saw a specialist, and it was believed that the Saints wideout could rehab the ankle injury instead of having surgery. The 28-year-old reportedly was going to rehab a month and return to the specialist to determine if surgery was necessary. The return visit never happened, per Underhill. Thomas underwent surgery in June and will be sidelined for four months. He's expected to start the season on the Physically Unable to Perform list. The news on Friday came as a surprise to fantasy managers as Thomas took part in Saints minicamp. Head Coach Sean Payton said "so far, so good" when asked about Thomas' ankle injury in June. He was limited to seven games in 2020 and won't see the field until at least October. Thomas' absence from the Saints passing attack means more target shares for RB Alvin Kamara and WR Tre'Quan Smith.
