Kyle Gibson A Likely Trade Target?
3 years agoRival executives view Texas Rangers right-hander Kyle Gibson as more likely to be traded than Minnesota Twins starter Jose Berrios. The Rangers and Twins are both out of contention in the American League West and American League Central, respectively, this year and could look to trade either Gibson or Berrios before the deadline next week. Gibson was a first-time All-Star this year and has been excellent in his second season with Texas, going 6-2 with a career-low 2.86 ERA, 1.13 WHIP and 90/33 K/BB in 107 innings spanning 18 starts. His FIP sits almost a run above his current ERA, though, and he's allowed 13 earned runs on 18 hits over 9 1/3 innings in his last two starts, both against the Detroit Tigers. The second half might not be as friendly to the 33-year-old veteran, but a trade to a contender would also boost his stock slightly.
