Mike Boone Likely To Fill A Special Teams Role
3 years agoDenver Broncos running back Mike Boone, who came over in free agency from the Minnesota Vikings in the offseason, is likely to fill a special teams role in 2021 after playing 456 special teams snaps in 2019 and 2020 in Minnesota. But don't be surprised if he gets some carries as well after he averaged 5.6 yards per carry on 49 attempts two years ago. The 26-year-old had 71 carries for 379 yards and four touchdowns in 40 career games with the Vikings. Denver's plan is believed to be a tandem approach between Melvin Gordon III and rookie Javonte Williams, with Boone picking up scraps behind them. As such, he'll go undrafted in the majority of fantasy formats, but he'd be a popular waiver pickup if one of Gordon or Williams go down with an injury at any point during the season.
