Travis d'Arnaud Has Made Big Improvements
3 years agoAtlanta Braves catcher Travis d'Arnaud (thumb) has made big strides in his rehab lately and will accompany the team on the road to do some hitting and other early work before games. It sounds like d'Arnaud is getting close to starting a minor league rehab assignment. The 32-year-old backstop is recovering from a torn ligament in his left thumb and has been out since early May, but he could be ready to return early next month. Atlanta signed Stephen Vogt recently, and he has been sharing catching duties with Kevan Smith. d'Arnaud should at least see part-time playing time when he's back healthy, and he can provide a little pop at a weak position in two-catcher leagues. He's hitting just .220 with two homers in 87 plate appearances this year, but d'Arnaud managed to hit .321 with nine round-trippers in 44 games in 2020 for Atlanta.
