Miles Mikolas Could Begin Rehab Assignment This Weekend
3 years agoSt. Louis Cardinals starting pitcher Miles Mikolas (forearm) will throw a live batting practice session on Tuesday and will go out on a rehab assignment after that, barring any setbacks. Mikolas has also been taking batting practice on the field, which is a good indicator that he's close to returning to game action. If all goes well on his rehab assignment, the right-hander could rejoin the team's rotation in mid-August. The 32-year-old hurler has made just one start this year because of injuries, and although he has a very mediocre 6.7 K/9 in six major league seasons, he could be worth adding in deeper leagues for those fantasy managers that need rotation help. With Carlos Martinez (thumb) likely done for the year now after having surgery, Mikolas will help fill his spot in St. Louis' rotation.
