Jack Flaherty, Miles Mikolas Making Progress
3 years agoSt. Louis Cardinals starting pitcher Jack Flaherty (oblique) threw a bullpen session on Friday, while right-hander Miles Mikolas (forearm) threw live batting practice, according to manager Mike Shildt. If Mikolas progresses as expected, he could start a rehab assignment by the end of the month. Flaherty has been out since the end of May, and there remains no timetable for his return. Fantasy managers should continue stashing the Red Birds ace, but don't expect a return until around the middle of August. Mikolas, 32, has been out since late May with right forearm tightness, and he, too, could return to St. Louis' rotation in the middle of August. Mikolas isn't a must-own like Flaherty. He'll have at least some streaming appeal in deeper leagues, although the upside is limited with his career 17.8 percent strikeout rate in six big league seasons.
