Padres Plan To Have Yu Darvish Return Monday
3 years agoThe San Diego Padres are planning on having starting pitcher Yu Darvish (back, hip) return from the injured list to start against the Atlanta Braves on Monday. Darvish had a rough outing in his last start before the All-Star break against the Washington Nationals and was subsequently put on the injured list with a back/hip ailment that he had been dealing with for weeks. Apparently the All-Star break was enough for him to rest up and get right. Even with the disastrous outing before the break, the 34-year-old Japanese right-hander has a great 3.09 ERA, 1.00 WHIP and 125 punch-outs in 105 innings over his 18 starts. He'll be more risky in his first start coming off the injury, though, and might not be allowed to go deep into the game. Take that into consideration if you plan on starting him.
