Giants Send Joey Bart Back Down
3 years agoThe San Francisco Giants optioned catcher Joey Bart to Triple-A Sacramento on Monday. Bart was called up just before the All-Star break to help fill in with Buster Posey on the injured list, and the team's No. 2 prospect went 2-for-5 with an RBI and a run scored on Sunday. The 24-year-old will continue catching every day in the minors, but if Posey needs more time off or gets injured again in the second half of the season, expect Bart to be right back up. He's hit an impressive .338/.400/.581 with eight home runs and 33 RBI in 35 games for Sacramento this year. Bart has above-average raw power from a position that is lacking in it, which makes him a must-stash dynasty/keeper asset. And if he gets more regular playing time in 2021, he'll also be relevant in redraft leagues. Bart is the future at the position in the Bay Area.
