Ryan Weathers Undergoing Tests On His Achilles
3 years agoSan Diego Padres left-hander Ryan Weathers (Achilles) is undergoing tests on his Achilles on Sunday after leaving his start early with what was initially thought to be an ankle/knee injury against the Colorado Rockies. While his knee and ankle are OK, an Achilles injury could also be troubling, so stay tuned for an update soon. The rookie southpaw struck out one and walked one in two scoreless innings before he was hurt trying to field a ground ball near first base. The Padres can't really afford more injuries to their already beat up starting rotation, so hopefully Weathers' injury isn't too serious. The left-hander has only struck out 6.44 hitters per nine innings in 2021 and has a 4.60 xFIP despite a 2.91 ERA in 58 2/3 innings over 11 starts, but he's been useful in deeper mixed leagues with a strong Padres offense backing him.
