Colson Montgomery Comes Off The Board At No. 22 Overall
3 years agoThe Chicago White Sox selected Southridge High School shortstop Colson Montgomery with the 22nd overall pick in the 2021 MLB amateur draft on Sunday. Montgomery is athletic for a 6-foot-4, 190-pounder, and he's drawn comparisons to Los Angeles Dodgers shortstop Corey Seager. Hitting from the left side of the plate, Montgomery should be able to hit for both average and power at the next level, although he may not be a lock to stick at the 6 long term. Montgomery was able to play football, basketball and baseball in high school, and he was the starting quarterback on the gridiron. The youngster from Indiana has fringy speed, but he could become a nice fantasy asset because of his bat in a nice hitter's park in Chicago.
