Kyle Freeland's Start Ends Early Due To Blister Issues
3 years agoColorado Rockies starting pitcher Kyle Freeland (finger) was forced to leave his start on Friday against the San Diego Padres early in the sixth inning because of a middle finger blister. Before leaving, Freeland's scoreless inning streak of 15 1/3 frames was snapped by Trent Grisham. In total, the left-hander allowed three earned runs on six hits while striking out three and walking two in five innings of work in the loss. The 28-year-old southpaw also dealt with the same blister issue in his last start and over the course of his career, so it's definitely something worth watching. Fantasy managers haven't been able to count on Freeland consistently in 2021, as he has a poor 5.48 ERA, 1.66 WHIP and weak 16.6 percent strikeout rate in 42 2/3 innings over nine starts. Until he gets over his blister issues, he'll be a streamer to avoid.
