Bears, Allen Robinson II Unlikely To Reach Long-Term Deal
3 years agoChicago Bears wide receiver Allen Robinson II doesn't appear close to getting a long-term deal with the team done prior to the deadline next week, which means he'd be playing the 2021 season on the franchise tag. Robinson wants to be paid like the top-tier receiver that he is. He'd make $17.98 million in 2021 on the franchise tag. Contract-issues aside, A-Rob has finished as a WR1 each of the last two seasons with below-average quarterback play. Andy Dalton isn't a show-stopper, but he's actually an upgrade over what the Bears had the last two years, and rookie quarterback Justin Fields has plenty of potential if he ends up with the starting role. With plenty of targets guaranteed as the team's top receiver, the 27-year-old will be a very safe low-end WR1.
