Jonathan Villar On The Bench In Game 1
3 years agoNew York Mets infielder Jonathan Villar is not in the starting lineup for Game 1 of a doubleheader against the Milwaukee Brewers on Wednesday. Luis Guillorme will get the nod at the hot corner and will hit seventh against Brewers right-hander Corbin Burnes. Villar will likely return to the lineup in the second game of the twin bill after he was just activated from the injured list on Sunday. The 30-year-old switch-hitter has gone hitless in his first six at-bats since coming back, and he'll likely lose playing time to kick off the second half of the season with J.D. Davis expected to return from the injured list. Guillorme has a nice .286 average and .415 on-base percentage in 77 at-bats this year, but he has no home runs and just one RBI and should be avoided in this matchup against Burnes.
