Paolo Espino Starting For Nats On Monday
3 years agoWashington Nationals right-hander Paolo Espino is getting the nod on the mound on Monday against the New York Mets. Espino is taking the rotation spot of Erick Fedde (oblique), who landed on the 10-day injured list on Sunday. In 17 outings (two starts), Espino has a nice 2.35 ERA, 0.84 WHIP and 23/4 K/BB in 30 2/3 innings. The 34-year-old will have a chance to stick in the starting rotation if he fares well, but fantasy managers shouldn't expect him to go very deep into the game on Monday after pitching mostly in relief in 2021. He does, however, have a 1.93 ERA in 9 1/3 frames in his two starts this year against the Arizona Diamondbacks and Pittsburgh Pirates, two of the worst teams in baseball.
