C.J. Uzomah Expected To Be Starting Tight End
3 years agoCincinnati Bengals tight end C.J. Uzomah is expected to be the team's starting tight end in 2021, but that is assuming that he does well coming off his Achilles injury. Uzomah was a full participant and was declared 100 percent healthy during organized team activities, so that's a good start. If healthy, he's a much better receiving threat than Drew Sample and handles himself well as a run-blocker. Sample is more of a pure run-blocker and will be on the field in 12 personnel, but the Bengals are much more dynamic in 11 personnel with one tight end on the field. Uzomah caught eight of his 11 targets for 87 yards and a touchdown in two games last year. He's underrated, but with the Bengals using a lot of four-receiver sets in this pass-heavy offense, the 28-year-old is likely to go undrafted in standard leagues.
