Tommy La Stella Begins Rehab Assignment
4 years agoSan Francisco Giants infielder Tommy La Stella (hamstring) has joined Triple-A Sacramento on Tuesday to begin his rehab assignment. La Stella will have plenty of chances to receive at-bats in the minors, since he's not eligible to come off the 60-day injured list until July 2. The 32-year-old utility infielder has been out since early May with his injury and was hitting a mere .235/.297/.353 with a home run and five RBI in 75 plate appearances before getting injured. Donovan Solano and Wilmer Flores have been mostly handling second and third base, respectively. When La Stella returns to the active roster, he'll be available off the bench to give Solano and Flores the occasional day off here and there. La Stella isn't anything more than infield depth in NL-only leagues when healthy.
