Austin Nola Making Improvements
4 years agoSan Diego Padres manager Jayce Tingler said that catcher Austin Nola (knee) is "making improvements" nearly every day. Nola's mobility and strength are increasing, while the swelling in his knee continues to go down. It has allowed him to start moving towards more baseball activities. Nola has only played in 18 games so far in 2021 because of the knee sprain and a fractured hand. The 31-year-old has hit just .217/.373/.326 with a .699 OPS, one home run, four runs scored and 11 RBI in 46 at-bats. However, he can provide some decent power numbers in two-catcher leagues once he's back from the injured list. Stay tuned for more updates on his rehab, including when he'll begin a rehab assignment. Victor Caratini will continue to serve as San Diego's primary backup with Nola sidelined.
