Jerry Jeudy 2021 Outlook: Room For Improvement After Difficult Rookie Season
4 years agoThe Denver Broncos and fantasy managers probably were expecting more out of wide receiver Jerry Jeudy in his rookie season after he was selected 15th overall in the first round in 2020. The season-ending injury to Courtland Sutton early in the year forced Jeudy into a bigger role in the offense, and inconsistent quarterback play from Drew Lock didn't help his cause. The 22-year-old pass-catcher finished with 52 catches (113 targets) for 856 yards and three touchdowns. His 46 percent catch rate was among the worst in the league among eligible receivers. Part of that was on Lock and Denver's inconsistent offense, but Jeudy, touted as the best route-running receiver in last year's draft class, also struggled to get separation (1.64 yards of separation at target according to playerprofiler.com). With Courtland Sutton returning in 2021, Jeudy may not see the volume of targets, but he'll hopefully be much more efficient before, during, and after the catch if the combination of Lock/Teddy Bridgewater can move this offense more consistently. Draft him as a WR4/5 with upside in the later rounds.
