Daniel Jones Showing Encouraging Improvement On Deep Passes
4 years agoNew York Giants quarterback Daniel Jones threw the ball deep just 39 times last year, but he was so effective at doing so that he was ranked as the top deep passer of 2020. Jones had a completion percentage over expectation of -4.9 percent in 2019, but he took a huge leap in 2020 with a completion percentage over expectation of +14.8 percent, the largest year-to-year improvement in the league. His passer rating on deep throws was the highest in the NFL at 134.3, and his 48.7 completion percentage was the fourth-highest mark. The 24-year-old still has plenty left to prove heading into his third season, but the Giants have given him a wealth of offensive weapons to work with. Draft him as a QB2 on the rise with QB1 potential if he's able to take another step in 2021.
