Nelson Agholor 2021 Outlook: New England's New WR1 Should See Plenty Of Targets In A Questionable Passing Attack
4 years agoNew England Patriots wide receiver Nelson Agholor signed a two-year, $22 million contract in the offseason to leave the Las Vegas Raiders and join a wide receiver corps in New England that was desperately in need of help. Coming off a 48 catch, 896 yard, eight touchdown season in 2020, Agholor instantly profiles as the top wide receiver on the roster for the Patriots as he will join disappointing first-round rookie N'Keal Harry, slot receiver Jakobi Meyers, and fellow free-agent signee Kendrick Bourne. While Agholor can be projected to lead the New England wide receivers in targets in 2021, the team's passing offense remains a question mark. Incumbent quarterback Cam Newton is coming off an extremely disappointing 2020 season which saw him throw just eight touchdowns in 14 games. Rookie Mac Jones is also unlikely to be ready to be a difference-maker in 2021, although his potential insertion into the starting lineup would be a plus for Agholor as he will not run the ball heavily as Newton does. Fantasy gamers should be treating Agholor as a high-end WR4 for fantasy purposes, making him a solid target as a depth option in the later rounds of fantasy drafts this fall.
