Tony Gonsolin Needs More Rehab Starts
4 years agoLos Angeles Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said that he expects right-handed pitcher Tony Gonsolin (shoulder) to need two more rehab starts before he's activated from the injured list. The 27-year-old's first rehab start came last Sunday with Triple-A Oklahoma City, where Gonsolin threw 38 pitches over three shutout innings. The Dodgers want to stretch him out further before they return him to the major league roster. Gonsolin was great for the Blue last season, posting a 2.31 ERA and 0.83 WHIP while striking out 46 and walking just seven in 46 2/3 innings in nine outings (eight starts). He has yet to make his 2021 debut, however, and he'll likely be relegated to relief duty as a potential rotation swingman.
