James Burgess Agrees With 49ers
4 years agoFormer Green Bay Packers linebacker James Burgess agreed to an undisclosed one-year deal with the San Francisco 49ers on Thursday, according to his agent, Drew Rosenhaus. Burgess signed with the Miami Dolphins in 2016 after going undrafted out of Louisville, but he was released before the start of the season. He spent time on the practice squad of three different teams before sticking with the Cleveland Browns for two seasons. Burgess spent a year with the New York Jets before playing four games (no starts) for the Packers in 2020. The 27-year-old had just three solo tackles last season before going on Injured Reserve in November. He's a veteran with some experience, but he won't be guaranteed to make the final roster.
