Jonathan Schoop Hits His Fourth Home Run On Thursday
4 years agoDetroit Tigers second baseman Jonathan Schoop hit a solo home run in the team's 5-2 loss to the Cleveland Indians on Thursday. It was his only hit of the game as he went 1-for-4. It's been a quiet season for Schoop who is now slashing .226/.268/.328 with four home runs and 16 RBI over 47 games on the year. Unfortunately, his underlying stats don't inspire much confidence that better times are ahead. He ranks in the 18th percentile in hard-hit rate (34.1%) and in the seventh percentile in xwOBA (.265). Pair those metrics with hitting in a tough offensive environment like Comerica Park and it makes it hard to have much confidence in Schoop going forward. He can be left on waivers in all fantasy leagues at this point.
