Paul Goldschmidt Doubles, Scores Twice On Thursday
4 years agoSt. Louis Cardinals first baseman Paul Goldschmidt scored the game-winning run in the 10th inning of the team's 5-4 victory over the Arizona Diamondbacks on Thursday. Goldschmidt went 1-for-4 with a double, a walk, an RBI and two runs overall in the game. Goldschmidt has been coming around a bit lately. He's recorded at least one hit in eight of his last nine games and he's slashing .303/.374/.483 in May. He's in the midst of a home run drought as he hasn't homered since May 11, but his underlying stats suggest that the homers should be coming soon. He currently ranks in the 94th percentile in average exit velocity (92.8 mph) and in the 92nd percentile in hard-hit rate (52.1%). He also has a career-best average launch angle of 19.6 degrees.
