Carlos Martinez Works A Quality Start Amid Friday's Blowout
4 years agoSt. Louis Cardinals starting pitcher Carlos Martinez picked up a quality start despite pitching in a game that eventually ended in a 12-3 loss to the Chicago Cubs. Martinez pitched six innings, allowing two runs on four hits and a walk while striking out two. Things got away from the Cardinals after that, particularly in a eight-run eighth inning. Martinez did his part though, lowering his ERA to 4.18 while not factoring in the decision. He got off to an awful start, but has been mostly solid since then. He's not missing too many bats, but he may still be worth a look in NL-only formats.
