Ji-Man Choi Sitting Against Lefty On Friday
4 years agoTampa Bay Rays first baseman Ji-Man Choi is heading to the bench on Friday as the team faces left-hander Anthony Kay and the Toronto Blue Jays. Yandy Diaz is manning first base while Austin Meadows is serving as the designated hitter in the game. Choi has been on a tear since his return from the injured list last weekend. He's played in four games and has gone 7-for-13 with a home run, a double, four walks, six RBI and four runs. He has an absurd OPS of 1.493. This is the second-straight time he's sat against a lefty. He went just 2-for-17 against lefties last year. Unfortunately for Choi, the Blue Jays will have two more southpaws on the mound the next two days with Robbie Ray and Hyun-Jin Ryu. It's likely Choi will get a start for at least one of them despite the unfavorable lefty vs. lefty matchup.
