Robert Woods 2021 Outlook: Old, Safe, and Reliable WR2
4 years agoFor some reason, Bobby Trees is one of the least appealing players in all of fantasy, and it makes no sense. Although Robert Woods does not possess elite WR1 upside, unless you don't like consistent fantasy points on a high-powered offense, Woods is the guy for you. Over his last three seasons (43 full games) Woods has been a top 24 receiver 53% of the time. After breaking out in 2018 (where he finished as the WR10), Woods has been the perfect fantasy WR2 who always returns the value on his ADP. In 2019 he had an ADP of WR17, which he then finished as the WR14 on the season. In 2020, his ADP was the WR18, and he finished as the WR18. Woods is literally the definition of a fantasy value in redraft leagues. In 2020, Woods averaged the 14th most targets per game (8.1) and was 18th in receptions. The offense has since upgraded their quarterback to the gunslinging Matthew Stafford, which potentially adds to Woods' upside. After all, we saw Stafford repeatedly produce two fantasy-relevant receivers in Kenny Golladay and Marvin Jones Jr., giving hope to the continued coexistence of Cooper Kupp and Woods. If you can get Woods near his fourth-round ADP, he will return value as the ideal fantasy WR2 with an added bonus in PPR formats.
