Michael Fulmer Records Second Save On Thursday
4 years agoDetroit Tigers pitcher Michael Fulmer closed out the team's 4-3 win over the Kansas City Royals on Thursday to earn his second save of the year. The team's primary closer Gregory Soto initially came in to close things out in the ninth but couldn't get things done. Fulmer took over after Soto allowed two hits, a walk and two earned runs while recording just one out. Fulmer put down the final two batters in order, striking out one of them. Fulmer has made five relief appearances so far in May and they have amounted to two saves and a hold. He's someone worth keeping an eye on in deep leagues where saves are scarce. Soto should still be viewed as the primary closer for the Tigers, but Fulmer is now clearly in the mix for save opportunities behind Soto.
