4 years agoDetroit Tigers pitching prospect Franklin Perez (shoulder) is set to undergo season-ending shoulder surgery. The news is yet another blow to Perez, who has been plagued with both shoulder and lat injuries. Perez was the top prospect acquired by the Tigers in the 2017 trade that sent Justin Verlander to the Houston Astros. The 23-year-old has yet to complete a full year at any Minor league level due to the many injuries he's suffered. Tiger manager A.J. Hinch didn't offer a clear timeline for when Perez will be able to return, solely telling reporters that Perez "will be out awhile."--Andrew Ericksen - RotoBaller
