Trevor Rogers Has Next Start Pushed Back To Thursday
4 years agoMiami Marlins starting pitcher Trevor Rogers will make his next start on Thursday against the Arizona Diamondbacks, according to manager Don Mattingly. Rogers is being pushed back a day and the team will go with a bullpen day on Wednesday. Rogers is off to a fantastic start to the year, pitching to a 1.89 ERA and 1.079 WHIP with a 33.1% strikeout rate. Mattingly and the Marlins will most certainly be watching the innings for their 23-year-old southpaw closely. Last year, Rogers only threw 28 innings. In 2019, he pitched 136.1 innings in the Minors. Look for Rogers to see some extra rest days somewhat often throughout the year, but that shouldn't hold him back from the breakout he's currently on pace for. It will just slightly limit his upside and production.
