Zack Wheeler Tosses Another Complete-Game Shutout
4 years agoPhiladelphia Phillies starting pitcher Zack Wheeler (3-2) threw his second complete-game shutout of the season on Thursday to help his team beat the Milwaukee Brewers 2-0. The right-hander was masterful on the day, allowing just three hits while striking out eight and walking none in nine innings to drop his season ERA to 2.83. Wheeler is looking like a star now after signing a five-year, $118 million deal with the team, and it was a nice bounce-back performance after he allowed four earned runs in seven innings in a 5-4 loss to his former team, the New York Mets, his last time out last weekend. On the season, Wheeler now has 49 strikeouts to just 12 walks, and he's allowed 15 earned runs in 47 2/3 frames.
