4 years agoWashington Nationals first baseman Josh Bell is heading to the bench on Wednesday as the team faces left-hander Max Fried and the Atlanta Braves. This will be the second-straight time that Bell has sat against a lefty with Ryan Zimmerman getting the start at first base. Bell is a switch hitter, but has regularly performed much better against righties than he has against lefties. Last year, he slashed .180/.290/.300 against lefties and .241/.311/.386 against righties. The Nationals face another lefty in Drew Smyly on Thursday, so Bell may remain on the bench once again.--Andrew Ericksen - RotoBaller
