Martin Maldonado Day-To-Day After Home Plate Collision
4 years agoHouston Astros catcher Martin Maldonado (shoulder) was involved in a rough collision at home plate with New York Yankees second baseman Rougned Odor (knee) in Tuesday's game. As Maldonado was chasing down a ball thrown to home plate, Odor was dashing home and his leg crashed into Maldonado's shoulder/head area, sending Maldonado's helmet flying. Both players exited the game. Luckily, Maldonado has eluded a serious injury. He was diagnosed with a trapezius contusion and the team is considering him day-to-day. Expect to see Jason Castro behind the plate for the Astros in Wednesday's game against the Yankees.
