Tyler Anderson Strikes Out Five In Quality Start Monday
4 years agoPittsburgh Pirates starting pitcher Tyler Anderson recorded his second straight quality start on Monday, allowing two runs on two hits and three walks while striking out five over 6 2/3 innings in a loss to the Padres. He carried a no-hitter bid into the seventh inning against San Diego, as he lowered his ERA to 3.24 on the year and sports a 23 percent strikeout rate. Anderson has pitched at least five innings in each of his first six starts, and has recorded at least five strikeouts in five of his six starts. Managers shouldn't get too excited about his performance, as he appears to have gotten somewhat lucky so far with a 4.03 xERA and a .258 xBA that ranks in the 36th percentile this season. But for now, he looks like a solid matchup-dependent streaming option in most formats.
