Edwin Diaz Removed Due To Back Tightness On Sunday
4 years agoNew York Mets closer Edwin Diaz (back) was pulled in the ninth inning of Sunday's game against the Philadelphia Phillies due to back tightness. Diaz struggled in his appearance, allowing two hits, two walks and three earned runs in 2/3 of an inning. After the game, Diaz said that his back felt tight before he entered the game, but he tried to pitch through it. Jeurys Familia entered the game to replace Diaz and recorded the final out to earn his first save of the year. Diaz is set to be examined by the team on Monday to determine how severe the injury is.
