4 years agoMinnesota Twins catcher Ryan Jeffers was optioned to the team's alternate site on Friday. Jeffers was in a near-even timeshare with fellow backstop Mitch Garver, though the former's results at the plate left much to be desired, as he hit just .147 with zero homers and 18 strikeouts compared to only three walks. The move frees up Garver for a full-time role as the starting catcher, with Willians Astudillo likely to see the backup reps. Garver might be worth a pickup in leagues where he was dropped if you need help at the catcher spot- as he could be heating up after a two-homer performance his last time out.--Tim Capurso
