Chad Green Pitches Two Scoreless Innings
4 years agoNew York Yankees relief pitcher Chad Green pitched two scoreless frames and struck out four batters in Thursday's extra-innings loss to the Orioles. Green entered the game in the bottom half of the sixth inning with the game tied at 2 and worked a 1-2-3 frame, then struck out the side in the seventh to preserve the tie. The veteran reliever now owns a 0.59 ERA and 0.59 WHIP with 14 strikeouts in 15 1/3 innings this year. Green's Statcast page supports his strong start to the year, as he ranks in the 80th-percentile or better in expected wOBA, batting average, slugging percentage, and ERA. He figures to keep working in the setup man role until Zack Britton (elbow) returns, which should give him value in holds leagues, even after Britton is back.
