BALLER MOVE: Add in 12-Team Leagues
ROSTERED IN: 41% of leagues
ANALYSIS: A new sleeper has arisen in the American League Rookie of the Year race. Texas Rangers outfielder Adolis Garcia has been absolutely mashing over the past week. He's on a five-game hitting streak and he's reached base in each of his last seven games. Over that stretch, he's hit four home runs and a double while tallying nine RBI and six runs.
Garcia is not your "typical" rookie. He is 28 years old and entered the year with 24 Major League games under his belt, most of which coming with the St. Louis Cardinals back in 2018.
However he's currently hitting the ball harder than any "typical" rookie out there. Harder even than some of the league's top hitters. Over 35 batted balls, Garcia boasts a 22.9% barrel rate, which ranks amongst the top 3% of the league. He also has a sturdy 48.6% hard-hit rate.
Garcia clearly has strikeout concerns, with a 30.9% strikeout rate so far this year, but the power potential is clear as day. He may be streaky or he may be a 2021 revelation. Either way, he's worth taking a gamble on for any fantasy managers looking for outfield help in leagues of 12 teams or deeper. Managers in smaller leagues can continue to monitor his progress before making a move.
