Josh Staumont Earns Another Save On Monday
4 years agoKansas City Royals relief pitcher Josh Staumont earned his second save in three days on Monday. He pitched a scoreless ninth inning, allowing no hits and one walk while recording one strikeout. What was particularly notable about this game was that it marked the return of Greg Holland, who spent multiple days on the injured list for unspecified reasons. Holland was first activated on Saturday, but he didn't pitch until this game on Monday and he pitched the eighth inning, in a setup role in front of Staumont. Staumont has been fantastic this year with a 0.75 ERA and 0.67 WHIP over 12 innings. It might be a messy situation going forward with Holland still getting the bulk of the save chances, but Staumont is worth a speculative add in any league where saves are highly coveted.
