Madison Bumgarner Tosses Seven-Inning No-Hitter
4 years agoArizona Diamondbacks starting pitcher Madison Bumgarner threw a complete-game, seven-inning no-hitter against the Atlanta Braves in the second game of a doubleheader on Sunday. He struck out seven and didn't walk anyone in the 7-0 victory. The baserunner reached on an error by Nick Ahmed. In Game 1, Zac Gallen had a no-hit bid broken up in the sixth inning. Although it's not a standard nine-inning no-hitter, it's impressive nonetheless for the veteran left-hander, especially against a team like the Braves. In five games this season, Bumgarner has a 6.31 ERA and has struck out 27 and walked nine in 25 2/3 innings pitched. After allowing 17 earned runs in his first three starts against the Padres, Rockies and A's, MadBum has given up just one earned run in his last 12 innings against Atlanta and Washington.
