4 years agoKansas City Royals starting pitcher Mike Minor had his best start of the young season on Friday against the Detroit Tigers. Minor pitched 5 2/3 innings and allowed four hits, two walks and two earned runs while recording a season-high nine strikeouts. He earned the win as the Royals defeated the Tigers 6-2. Through four starts this year, Minor is 2-1 with a 4.64 ERA and a 1.22 WHIP. His velocity has been up so far this year on his two primary pitches. He's averaging 91.3 mph on his four-seam fastball, up from 90.6 mph last year, and he's averaging 86.5 mph on his slider, up from 85.6 mph last year. He'll look to build on Friday's strong outing in his next time out against the Pittsburgh Pirates on Wednesday.--Andrew Ericksen - RotoBaller
