Gregory Soto Earns Second Save On Wednesday
4 years agoDetroit Tigers relief pitcher Gregory Soto closed out Game 2 of Wednesday's doubleheader against the Pittsburgh Pirates to earn his second save of the year. He pitched a perfect seventh inning, allowing no hits or walks while striking out two. This was his first save since Opening Day. He is now tied with Bryan Garcia for the team lead in saves with two. No other Tiger has earned a save. Garcia pitched the sixth inning of this game, acting as a setup man in front of Soto. Soto has been the more effective pitcher between the two so far this year with a 2.16 ERA and 1.32 WHIP. Garcia has a 5.87 ERA and a 1.43 WHIP. Soto might have the slight edge over Garcia in save opportunities, but Tigers manager A.J. Hinch may mix things up and play the matchups.
